Eat dessert … and lots of it!
Kraków, Poland was my favorite city that we visited on this trip. The people were super friendly and the city is loaded with history. We were only there for two days, so I don’t have a ton of suggestions for food but these are a few places we really enjoyed just relaxing at.
Café Szał Rynek Główny 1-3, Kraków
In continuation with my “pop a squat with coffee” philosophy, my favorite eating experience and actually my favorite overall experience on this trip was sitting in Café Szał. It is a terrace above the Cloth Hall overlooking the St Mary’s half of the square. The people watching was impeccable! And it is open until 11 pm so you can go for an after dinner drink and watch the square at night. It was pretty quiet because you have to go through the art museum entrance on the ground floor to get to it and it isn’t well advertised.
To top it off the lattes were the best I have had … not just on this trip … ever! And they made little cream doodles on top!
Finding Café Szał: So basically the square has the Cloth Hall plopped in the middle of it. You want to be on the St. Mary’s Cathedral side of the square and the entrance to the café is on the exterior of the Cloth Hall. There will be an entrance for the art museum that is above the Cloth Hall. Take the stairs up one floor and that is where the café is. If you go up another flight, you will find the museum.
Słodki Wentzl Rynek Glowny 19, Kraków
This café is actually on the square. We ate dinner there and it was pretty good but we got ice cream cones and they were amazing. I became obsessed with coconut gelato on the trip and this place started that obsession. It was really cheap too. We went back twice … yummo!
Miód Malina Grodzka 40, Kraków
Miód Malina is a combination of Polish and Italian food. The food was fresh and and had some modern-like twists. This is the salad my sister got…look how pretty!
Hope y’all get the chance to visit Kraków! If you are planning a trip, I’d be happy to give more suggestions! Any suggestions of your favorite places in Kraków? Please comment below!
